THRED (2024)

Review: THRED (2024) – A Digital Nightmare You Won’t Log Out Of

In a world where we’ve already surrendered our lives to screens, THRED (2024) comes in like a cold slap to the face — a sleek, tense techno-thriller that digs deep into our darkest digital fears.

Set in a near-future where an experimental social platform called “Thred” uses AI to predict and control human behavior, the film follows Zoey Lin (played with fierce subtlety by Naomi Scott), a data ethics researcher who stumbles onto something she was never meant to see: a series of users who have mysteriously vanished in real life… after their profiles were “deleted.”

Director Kieran Holt (in his first mainstream hit) crafts a tense, stylish atmosphere that feels somewhere between Black Mirror and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Every frame is drenched in synthetic light and quiet dread. The score, composed entirely of glitchy synths and fragmented voices, adds to the unease.

What sets THRED apart is how real it feels. The technology isn’t far-fetched. The dialogue is sharp. And the horror? It’s not ghosts or jump scares — it’s the terrifying realization that the app you trusted most knows your next move… and can erase it.

Final Verdict: THRED is a smart, chilling reflection on our relationship with tech. It’s not just sci-fi — it’s a warning.
